Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

02 Sep 2023Walked on 30/8/23. The route starts in a warren of houses and then is a little tricky close to the Ridgeview wine estate (west of the B2112). The stretch east of the B2112 is pleasant but again becomes difficult to follow once you leave the Sussex Border Path. Ditchling onwards is lovely - a steep hike up Westmeston Bostal on a narrow track with loose chalk (slippy when wet) but otherwise gentle and easy to follow all the way to Lewes. I'm familiar with the Burgess to Ditchling parts of Burlew 2 and that is much nicer; the only downside of that is a short stretch on the Burgess Hill to Keymer road which has no pavement and little verge. There is however, good visibility for traffic in both directions and should be safe with care in daylight.
