Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Review of SlowWays Route Bristi one (Bridge of Allan to Stirling one)
This is a very direct route between Bridge of Allan and Stirling which follows the pavement next to the main road between the two settlements. There are lovely views, an interesting railway crossing and some interesting buildings (not least, the Niniveh Fountain). However it is mostly quite a dull, functional route. The only access issue is the humpbacked bridge mentioned by another reviewer which is steep and cobbled, and may constitute a barrier to wheelchair users or others with impaired mobility. Nevertheless an adequate route.

This is the quickest way from Stirling to Bridge of Allan, and I frequently walk it. It is also cycle friendly.

Direct, but boring. This route follows the main road between Bridge of Allan and Stirling (except for the bridge over the River Forth and a semi-pedestrianised street in Stirling). There are reasonable quality pavements all the way and it is lit.
The biggest access issues will be around the bridge over the River Forth. It has 100m of cobbles, a 9% gradient on the east side and a 5% gradient on the west side. The parallel road bridge is closed to pedestrians.
