Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

19 Aug 2021Pleasant walk on paths through Bracknell. Crossing over Nine Mile Ride is dangerous - there are traffic lights just to the east, which would be a better crossing.
Walking through Swinley Forest is nice, but difficult to navigate as there are numerous paths and rides that are not signposted, so need to either be naturally good at directions or have gps.
Agree that finishing point in dead area of Lightwater odd when the route goes close to Bagshot with a bus stop, shops, pubs etc.

18 Jul 2021The route follows quiet footpaths in both Bracknell and Lightwater and the middle part leads through the Swinley forest where there is plenty of opportunities to sit down on a log or in a shielded spot. The only section where I didn't exactly hit the right (bridle)path was near Lightwater Country Park but it didn't matter too much. It would be hard to get lost there. The footpaths through the forest are mostly wide and there is not much shadow so not ideal in extremely hot weather. Terrain is as you would expect from a forest with sometimes steep inclines. I'd warn any walker about a spot where they emerge from Birch Hill and need to cross Nine Mile Ride to the Look Out Discovery Center. The visibility is poor, cars are approaching fast and no pedestrian crossing is in site. It is not clear why the end node is at Lightwater when the nearest railway station is at Bagshot which is on this route and not far from Lightwater but that is for another discussion.

19 Aug 2021Route through Bracknell fine, as it is on footpaths. Dangerous crossing shown over Nine Mile Ride - there are pedestrian lights slightly to the east, so that would be a better crossing point.
Difficulties in the route going through Swinley Forest. Although a nice place to walk, there are numerous paths, rides and forest tracks, with no signposting. Only feasible to get out the other side at a specific place if you are following a gps or naturally good at navigating.
Also agree with other reviewer that finishing in a dead part of Lightwater is odd, when the route passes close to Bagshot where there is a station, buses, shops, pubs, etc -
