30 Sep 2022Bonnybridge to Larbert 2 (Bonlar 2) review.
A walk which begins with an attractive stretch of the Forth and Clyde Canal; but is mainly roads and lanes the rest of the way into Larbert.
The route out of Bonnybridge crosses a park to the Forth and Clyde Canal. The towpath is well maintained (Photo 1).
The route leaves the canal to take a lane north. It is a short detour further along the towpath to the Falkirk Wheel (Photo 2). The visitor centre has a café.
There is a short stretch of the A883 which has a pavement. The Lochlands Loan towards Larbert is a lane with a narrow grass verge (Photo 3). On my walk the traffic was light, but much of it was larger vehicles, probably serving the nearby industrial estate.
The urban walk into Larbert crosses the River Carron (Photo 4) and passes under the Larbert Viaduct.
