A good Slow Way overall. Varied, and with generally good path infrastructure and signage. Note that it often shares or closely parallels the route used by its sister Slow Way Bisrad (going between Bishop Sutton and Radstock).

The only negatives are that the route is a little prone to annoying standing crop without clear paths through or good headlands round the edge of some fields in mid/late summer, especially just east of Bishop Sutton (home of my least favourite bean field which necessarily features in several Slow Ways going east out of the village!) and it is a bit of a boring (but also necessary) walk through Paulton.

There is a plethora of alleyways on the way out of Midsomer Naughton towards Paulton, lovely countryside and great paths all the way along along the Limestone Link between Paulton and Clutton and good views towards the Chew Valley and its lake on the way into Bishop Sutton.

In two places, there are easily usable alternative closely parallel pathways. The first is the gravelled path through open grassland (with seats and picnic tables along the way) that lies immediately to the south of the wooded cycle path going into/out of Midsomer Norton, should you prefer that. Then there is the nearby parallel footpath just to the north of the route going west out of Clutton (which is used by the Bisrad Slow Way). This I think may be a slightly better alternative at some times of year because it is mostly across grassy fields.

I regularly walk from Midsomer Norton to Clutton, and this (slightly) modified route is pretty much the route I would take. It is a generally easy walk (other than the climb from Midsomer Norton into Paulton!), through interesting and beautiful countryside.

The route from Clutton to Bishop Sutton is an alternative to that suggested in the slow way from Radstock to Bishop Norton along well used and easy to navigate footpaths. There are a few sections where field boundaries need to be used rather than following the exact footpath, but this is obvious and does not cause any difficulties.

Overall, this is a great slow way and I would recommend it.
