Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

12 May 2024Overall the walk was quite pleasant with a good variety of scenery and walking conditions. There were a number of areas the vegetation had grown in a lot and hadn't been pushed back by walkers- mostly brambles and nettles, so a stick/some snips would be recommended to make the path easier. One field of anxious mama cows, but a very friendly farmer came and shooed them out the way! Numerous stiles and steps over railway lines so not appropriate for wheels.
The biggest issue was that HS2 works has temporarily (but for a few years) closed a number of foot paths so I had to walk on the verge of a road section- the verge was large so I was out of the traffic, but it wasn't the most pleasant of sections. There was the odd other little detour where Open Street Map didn't match OS maps/reality, but if you have access to an OS map you should be able to work them out fairly easily.
Steeple Claydon is a pretty small village, with very limited amenities and transport links. Frustratingly, I missed my bus by 5 mins and had to wait 2.5 hours for the next one. The cafe closed at 2, but luckily the weather was okay so popped into a very new looking Coop to get some snacks for the wait and set myself up on a bench! The 18 bus route seems to be a little different to what's on the Buckinghamshire website, but the Fountain PH is still a stop.
