Help connect Bicester
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Bicester’s Slow Ways.

Earlier reviews pointed out that the section adjacent to the M40 is quite noisy....

Overall the walk was quite pleasant with a good variety of scenery and walking conditions. The biggest issue was that HS2 works has temporarily (but for a few years) closed a number of foot paths so I had to walk on the verge of a road section- the verge was large so I was out of the traffic, but it wasn't the most pleasant of sections....

The One section I didnt like was walking near the M40, the noise drowned out my auido book :-(....

But going to have to harsh, walked after a lot of rain and in a number of places between Brill and Blackthorn this route was water logged almost to the point of being impassable, worst then other slowways....

Ardley to Bicester is a bit more functional, Motorway noise, and walking through Bicester, but no way of avoiding that....

We walked this route starting from Bicester, and found it very much a route of two parts....

I’d agree with the previous reviewer that walking in the opposite direction gives a more satisfying conclusion, finishing with great views from Brill over the surrounding countryside, however this leg was part of a longer journey so not possible for us and we concluded walking through the housing and commercial developments around Bicester....
swebbews
An easy to follow route with not too much on road. What there is appears quiet....

Martin McGovern added Kidbic two, a new walk from Kidlington to Bicester
Walk this routeMost of it is fine, but it takes you directly across the Wendlebury Interchange - the roundabout where the M40 and A34 meet. There's no bridge or underpass, so it's extremely dangerous. I'm uploading an alternative route....
Martin McGovern
After a short section through the old market town, the route passes the Bicester Village shopping complex....
Martin McGovern
If you have a choice, I'd recommend doing this route from Bicester to Brill, rather than the other way round - the ascent into Brill is more picturesque than the approach to Bicester Village station and the town centre. In either direction, you'll have to cross the A41 between Bicester and the Ambrosden road. Also going from Brill to Bicester, approaching Ambrosden, the official route makes a diagonal cut through a new housing development...
