01 Oct 2021This is a popular and well-known route in the area, one I've walked many times. The middle section (along the canal towpath) is quiet and peaceful, it's the parts getting to and from it that involve some busy street walking. The route is accessible, but note cobbled bridge to join canal towpath, and a few steep (but short) inclines. Majority of route is on level tow-path.
As an alternative (quieter roads) at the Beeston side, you can walk down Dovecote Lane (west of the recommended route) where a (stepped) footbridge eventually takes you over the railway line, and then continue down Trent Road, to then meet the canal (either head east on Canal Side to the cobbled bridge) or west to cross the canal, then east along the raised embankment to re-join at the cobbled bridge.
The alternative above involves a stepped footbridge, so not accessible, although cyclists use it frequently. It passes two additional pubs (Star Inn at start, and Victoria Hotel at the footbridge over railway line) and a cafe at the footbridge over the canal (at Canalside Heritage Centre).

11 Sep 2021This is the preferred route for walking the canal path to Nottingham. It takes you to the canal sooner than Beenot One and travels on well maintained paths free of mud, popular with runners, walkers and canal users alike. This is a great route in its own right.

26 Jul 2021This in my view is better walk as it more off-road than the NotBee walk number one. It is slighly longer but is much more pleasant as you walk along the canal towpath rather than in built up streets for the most part.
