29 May 2023This was an easy short walk. We left from just outside the church in Market Place in Atherton, then followed the route out of the town and were soon walking through woodland and fields before eventually arriving at the wide shared path at the side of the guided busway into Tyldesley.

28 May 2023The route followed the main road from Atherton for a short distance before turning down Miller’s Lane. This was initially a pleasant housing street, with a distant view, but soon became very quiet and rural. We soon turned off onto a woodland cycle/foot track which appeared well used and reasonably wide, but there were some easily-avoided nettles at the side.
There was a bridge over the brook, with cycle barriers. After crossing a quiet road, the path ran along the edge of the woods and a field, and soon met the Guided Busway. After dropping down the small embankment, we crossed the busway to walk alongside it for a short distance before reaching the road into Tyldesley. There is a Park and Ride here for fast buses into Manchester.
This was a short, but really good route.
