Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

04 Oct 2024A great Slow Ways Route which i started from Henley in Arden following the Heart of England Way through lovely woods including Banhams Wood . Easy to follow with nice views over the Warwickshire countryside. Recommend The Holy Bush Pub in Alcester for refreshments. Will be walking this route again in the spring to see the bluebells in the woods.

30 Apr 2023I completed this walk today traveling southwest from Henley in Arden. It is a great walk, taking in several woods in the Heart of England Forest. Being spring, it wasn't a surprise to encounter a good amount of mud, but the flipside was that the bluebells were out and there were a good couple of sections with wild garlic growing.
There are a few hills to get over, the biggest of which is Bannams wood, but doing the route in this direction gives more descent than ascent overall. As you might expect for a rural walk, there are a healthy amount of stiles, footbridges, gates and steps to negotiate. There is a very small amount of road walking to do, but nowhere felt unsafe.
There are no shops or pubs anywhere other than the start and end points, so make sure you take supplies, but it isn't the longest walk at just over 8 miles. Can definitely recommend this route.

26 Mar 2022An amazing walk. It follows the Heart of England Way and in part, the Arden Way and the Millennium Way. The walk is from St Nicholas in Alcester to St John’s in Henley in Arden. One picture shows the wonderful Banhams Wood, another the general view over the Warwickshire countryside.
