Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

22 May 2023May 2023. Direction: Abersychan to Usk.
A fine walk through varied countryside including woodland, fields, country lanes, the Mon & Brec Canal and the River Usk.
After the initial woods on leaving Abersychan, the route follows Folly Lane (with the Pontypool Folly close by on the top of the ridge), before descending down the old roman road (there are some stretches with cobble stones still in place, but in most places the stones are loose and it can be tricky under foot) into Mamhilad. After a short section along the Mon & Brec Canal, the path then led through fields, although some of the styles here were not easy to locate, and some were in poor condition. After a short stretch of around 750 metres through Little Mill along the main A472 road, the path then ascends up into more woodlands followed by some lanes, before joining the Usk Valley Walk for the remainder of the way into the town of Usk.
There are pubs in Mamhilad and Little Mill and a cafe in the garden centre at the A4042 crossing, all of which are directly on the route.
