Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

11 Jan 2023I walked the middle third of this walk from the Devil's Bridge direction, starting in Goginan and intending to get to Aberystwyth and do the other half later, but found it impenetrable. The wooded bank to the north-west of Goginan was overgrown with gorse and all sorts of other prickes, and as it was December I figured it wouldn't be any better in any other more overgrown month. I wonder if the previous reviewer walked the other direction and found it passable when going downhill.
I tried a couple of workarounds further north over the same bank, but the footpath was blocked by a barbed wire fence which I must mention to the local footpath officer.
However, even if it had been possible to get around this section, from the map I could see that the onward route plunged up and down many contours on the way to Aberystwyth, and although I am curious about the paths since they are local to me, I felt that it didn't really deserve more time and effort because:
a) Abedev two exists and will be good. It makes sense geographically and psycholgically as it follows the Rheidol river all the way down to the sea, so it's direct, flat, and already more or less in use (I can see it needs a few tweaks, but don't think they will be difficult to work out)
b) Aberdev two is already a mile shorter, and workarounds to save Abedev one will only make it longer
c) Abedev two also runs near the existing cycle path so I will upload another route suggestion for wheeling when I can, and intend to check it by bike in March
In short, Abedev one should die, IMO! Prickly old nemesis. I called for my partner to come and rescue me and my mum and went home for a cup of tea.

30 Jun 2022Overall a nice route however there is a section at the start which leads you along a busy main road with no pavement. there is an easy way to avoid this which i will endeavor to suggest as an alternative route.
