    4. This 200m section is rocky, stepped (but not constructed), narrow and can be very wet in rain. It can be bypassed (E to W) by turning left on the road for 300m (no footway and narrow with bends) then turn right along a lane marked Offa's Dyke footpath 4.6 km from start — 13 May 2021

    8. The road bridge over the River Wye in Monmouth is very busy with vehicles (especially HGVs) and pedestrians. There is no separate footbridge or any other crossing. The usable footpath is on the RIGHT-hand side going E to W, is not very wide and leads to a subway under the A40. Do not attempt to cross the A40 anywhere else! 8.3 km from start — 13 May 2021
