8. The road bridge over the River Wye in Monmouth is very busy with vehicles (especially HGVs) and pedestrians. There is no separate footbridge or any other crossing. The usable footpath is on the RIGHT-hand side going E to W, is not very wide and leads to a subway under the A40. Do not attempt to cross the A40 anywhere else! 8.3 km from start — 13 May 2021
