    1. For this survey of Aldwit one I walked the whole route from Aldbrough to Withernsea so my direction was north to south. This first photo shows the start point in Aldbrough by the war memorial and village shop. 0 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    2. Where the path leaves the village and you have to duck under this telegraph pole cable. TA 243 383 0.5 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    3. There are many footbridges over dykes on this route. All of them are inaccessible to wheelchairs and mobility scooters. All bar two are in a state of disrepair. This one has broken side rails. TA 244 382 0.75 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    4. After 1.2km the route crosses the B1242. From this point until the hamlet of Fitling at 4.2km, the footpaths are marked as rights of way on the OS map but there is no evidence that they have actually been walked by anyone. Consequently there is no trodden path. Farmers have ploughed nearly up to the edge of dykes so it’s not easy to walk other than through crops. 1.75 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    5. Unsafe, poorly maintained bridge with broken side railings and rotting planks. TA 244 373 1.8 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    6. Another unsafe, poorly maintained bridge with broken planks both underfoot and side railings. The dykes are deep and there’s no other ways across other than these bridges. TA 247370 2.3 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    7. After 2.6km the right of way heads straight across a field which is completely ploughed and planted, and there’s no actual footpath on the ground. This is ok to walk on just now whilst it’s dry and the crops are short, but in winter when the fields are ploughed, it’s truly dreadful to walk across. Also it’s not easy to see where to go - good navigational skills are needed. 2.67 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    8. Another unsafe, narrow, footbridge with rotting planks underfoot. This one is on the corner just near Bail Wood. TA 249 364 2.9 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    9. Another field where there is no actual path on the ground and the whole field has been ploughed and sewn. 3 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    10. Several more fields between Owstwick and the Burton Pidsea road are pathless fields with crops growing. It’s not easy to find the route and it’s hard to walk through the crops. 10 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    12. The route goes along a road for 1km, which is the road between Roos and Burton Pidsea. On the map it is an unclassified road. But this is actually a very fast heavily trafficked road. It’s a dangerous and unpleasant section of the route, especially because the verge is difficult to walk on - it slopes down sharply into a ditch. This is a road that never has walkers on it, so car drivers are not used to looking out for people walking. I feel that this section of the route is unsafe. 10.7 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    13. Entering the village of Roos, there are pavements all the way through, and in the village a number of amenities. The best one is Melbourne Butcher & Bakers. Great pies! 12.6 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    14. Leaving Roos, the route is well used and well signed. The whole stretch from Roos to Rimswell is easy to follow, and the paths are grassy and nice to walk on. 13.2 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    15. The route goes past Roos churchyard, which is a nice spot with several benches. 13.3 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    16. White Bridge over Roos Drain - one of the few bridges on this route that are in good condition 13.9 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    17. Excellent wide grassy path alongside Roos Drain. The section between Roos and Rimswell is very good, albeit that the views include two large industrial egg farming units, and a wind farm! 14 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    18. Excellent footbridge over dyke 14.8 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    19. The route heads through a small group of trees - it can be easy to miss this. 15.4 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    20. A really excellent example of the farmer having mown the right of way across the field. It makes route finding so much easier, and the terrain walkable. This is the field leading up to Carr Farm (an industrial egg farming operation). 15.5 km from start — 29 Apr 2021

    21. Route finding between Rimswell and Withernsea is fairly straightforward except for this obstruction. A gateway has a board placed across it and right next to it is an unsafe wooden footbridge (next photo). TA 324 287 18.3 km from start — 29 Apr 2021
