Route description
A very peaceful walk across the North Downs with some steep slopes, especially the escarpment from Westerham. There is a lovely pub in Cudham halfway along - with a TfL Hail-and-Ride bus service but no other facilities beyond the end stretches. This route is a new version of WesOrp drawn up after walking the route. Main purpose is to avoid walking on narrow, unpavemented Old Hill on the edge of Orpington using permissive paths through Old Hill Common and High Elms Country Park. Other small changes include avoiding the football pitches in Westerham to get to the Squerries Winery permissive path, a slightly less brutal climb up the North Downs making the most of the views, another permissive path near Cudham (Woodland Trust), crossing the A21 at a roundabout with slowed traffic, and a quiet but shorter route within Orpington (matching NewOrp 1 - also highly recommended).
