Route description
WESCOT 3 is the most direct route and is already deservedly snailed, but I still think there is room for a slightly longer and greener alternative that is loosely based on WESCOT 2. I have made changes in three places. Most importantly, the A52 ring road is now crossed at the safe pelican crossing as per WESCOT 3, though I have used a more direct route through Gamston to reach it. The other changes are (secondly) to re-route the initial walk out of West Bridgford through Bridgford Park. Note that this park may be locked at night, and if it is, there is an easy alternative staying on the footpath and walking along Edward Road. Thirdly I think it is much more pleasant to include the country park at the Cotgrave end than walking along the road. The route I have chosen for this is mostly surfaced, but has a few steps, which can be avoided by remaining on the canal path for longer and following the southern edge of the country park - this is longer but flatter.
