10 Dec 2023I completed this route today walking eastwards from Wythall. I know ratings are subjective to the walker and conditions, but I didn't encounter anything which made me consider flagging the route for safety as one previous reviewer has. Yes, there are some sections of road walking which means you have to take care and take cover now and again, but to my mind the route is safe enough and just loses a couple of stars for it. Having said that, it would be good to see an alternative if anyone with local knowledge could suggest one.
On the day I walked the route, there had just been long periods of very heavy rain. This unfortunately did flood a few sections - specifically the footbridge at Cheswick Green (photos 10 & 11) and parts of Hillfield Park (photo 13). The flooded footbridge at Cheswick Green was deep enough to go over the boots, but it had been after exceptionally heavy rain so do consider that if the conditions are similar.
On the whole I can recommend the route if you have to travel between the two places, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do it. There's a few gates and stiles but not many.

10 Jun 2021This walk was not as enjoyable as expected. Approximately one mile is on narrow country roads without safe margins but quite a lot of traffic and some bends reducing visibility. The A34 is a very busy dual carriageway with no designated crossing area.
Paths vary from wide pavements to narrow unsurfaced and field paths.
Easy walking from Wythall to Tidbury Green.
Could be difficult to find the paths at the top of Cheswick Green as they are hidden in corners by housing
The 2 mile section at the Solihull end was a pleasant way to approach/leave Solihull.

30 May 2021This route is straightforward and quite pleasant to walk. There were one or two points where the footpath could get overgrown in summer and muddy in wet weather but I don’t think this will present too much of an issue with the correct clothing and footwear.
