Description
9.9 miles according to route.
The correct way forward in some sections is not easily apparent and use of a map app or careful attention to an OS map are recommended.
Road from Wythall station – good pavement, street lighting.
Easy path to follow to Kidpile farm – will get very muddy in places in wet weather/winter.
After 1.5 miles, the path at the bottom of Clowes Wood to corner of Terry’s Pool is none existent and the general direction fenced off. This (Wythen 3) has been rerouted through the adjacent New Fallings Coppice to join main path round Terry’s pool grid ref SP105738 T.R. on main path round head of pool and pick up slow ways route through a gate at SP108738 to The Lakes station. (Included in this alternative route)
After 3.2 miles, no path to cross M42 at grid ref SP103726 TL along north side of motorway and cross under with the railway line.
Path to lane at (Grid ref SP103723) not waymarked or clear on the ground and needs careful navigation, aiming for a boundary stile in the top left corner a few yards to the left of the metal gate to join the lane.
After 4.7 miles, the path approaching Tanworth in Arden has been rerouted shortly after crossing the railway (SP112712) as it is clearly waymarked.
The section between Danzey Green 6.2 miles) and Beaudesert Park (8.6 miles), is not always signposted, some of the paths are not well walked and needs careful navigation. At the time of writing, footbridge repairs have been carried out, though the path closed signs not removed.
There are some very pleasant views along various sections of the route

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

26 Jun 2023Walked this route on a hot sunny day and had received advice from a fellow walker before setting out which helped . Did find a few paths difficult to find and was grateful for use of OS app to keep me on the 'strait and narrow' But pleasant walk with excellent lunch opportunities in Wood End or Tanworth in Arden. Two footbridges on the route near Tanworth have recently been repaired making it safer. No farm animals encountered but saw hare and muntjac at a distance.
Would consider doing it again.

26 Jun 2023Thank you for trying out this route and adding your review. You will see that as this is route three, we have tried to iron out as many difficulties as possible. Short of adding much more road walking or lobbying local groups/councils for more waymarking, we have not manged to come up with anything better. It is on certain sections of walks like this one that an OS app, or similar is a great help. Still plenty of opportunities to take in the surroundings on the walk. Best wishes,
