Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

16 Jun 2023This is a lovely walk from Worsley to Urmston.
Starting at St Marks Church a short walk takes you to The Delph at Worsley. The heart of the Bridgewater canal with unusual modern sculpture and a huge amount of history of the underground mining operation with the canal being the primary transport for the operation.
A short walk takes you to Mill Brow with its picturesque cottages and onto Worsley woods. Through the woods is very nice and leads to the looplines walk to Monton passing what looks like an old abandoned train station. Monton has a range of shops and cafes if you’re in need of a refreshment as I was on a hot day.
Crossing the bridge to the Waterside Inn the pathway takes you along the former towpath towards Patricroft and on to wards Barton swing bridge. An incredible feat of engineering taking the bridgewater canal over the Manchester ship canal. Amazing!
Onwards there is an impressive church before returning to the towpath alongside the Bridgewater canal.
Some distance on you will turn off the towpath at the Kellogg’s factory.
The route is mainly footpaths from then on. Not as picturesque but level decent pavements, some tree lined onto Urmston train station.
