Description
This is broadly the same route as WorLan one, but plotted with much greater attention to detail. There are a number of options for the exact route through Langold Country Park, but to me the lake seemed the most attractive one, and there are facilities there

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

10 Apr 2024 (edited 11 Apr 2024)Walked from Worksop to Langold. An excellent route, which loses a star only because of the length of the pavement walk at the Worksop end, which seems unavoidable. Some muddy sections and other minor obstacles that mean it is not wheelable, but easy to follow throughout, with safe crossings of all main roads.
We go north out of Worksop station then take the shortcut left into Turner Road. Pavements take us to the junction with Gateford Road, where there are pelican crossings to take us safely across. We cross and continue up Gateford Road. It is best to stay on the right (east) pavement. Raymoth Lane has more pelican crossings, and we soon leave the main road right. Do not stay on Old Gateford Road past Ashes Park Avenue - our route branches off to the right, and uses a mixture of residential streets and paved paths to reach the bridlepath north. Gateford is expanding northwards and everything right of the path is building site or new houses until we enter Owday Wood.
The path through the wood is unsurfaced and muddy but easy to follow. We cross Owday Lane and continue on a farm road. Where the road turns right we go half left over a bridge and into fields, where we rejoin a wide but unsurfaced track going north through the fields. At a small wood we turn right (more mud) to join the old track which forms the Nottinghamshire/Yorkshire boundary.
We go slightly left at Rotherham Baulk and pass through a farmyard and continue on a good but not fully surfaced path into Langold Country Park. Here I chose the easier option left down to the lake - there is an alternative path that climbs the spoil heap. We exit the park via the access road and the rest of the walk is on pavements. There is a pelican crossing where we meet Doncaster Road whch should be used as the Langold meeting point is on the far side outside the British Legion.
A straightforward and fairly direct route.
