Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

05 Feb 2023 (edited 06 Feb 2023)Safe, majorly offroad and very easy to follow. I started this from Macclesfield and the start up some steep steps was brutal but rewarding. Macclesfield itself offers plenty of distractions, shops and pubs and there's a brief bit of pavement pounding before joining the Bollin Valley Way which takes you all the way to Wilmslow! Magic! The route is very well marked and the gates, steps and infrastructure were all in great condition. Interestingly there were plenty of fellow walkers at the Macclesfield end but for most of the route from Prestbury (which has a pizzeria and pub) I was the only soul. Definitely one to wear boots for. I found the choosing the least marshy route increasingly hard, the nearer I got to Wilmslow. I wondered if the route would have been better served had it continued with the BVW to the main road into Wilmslow but the route it does follow past a weir was probably the nicer option and not much less direct. Definitely recommended!.
