16 Sep 2023This was a lovely walk. I had slight reservations about the first part, leaving Wheelton, eg thoughtless parking, a little bit of unexpected verge before the hidden access to the first field crossing, with cow potential, and rather long grass, but the rest was so nice I soon forgot those small niggles.
From Heapey, there was a long private road which was really lovely, especially after the tarmac finished. There were views of distant Blackpool Tower and the Ribble Estuary, and of Winter Hill. There was also a beautiful former railway bridge to cross under.
It was initially tricky finding the right path between the reservoirs, but once there it was very peaceful with beautiful sky and reflections, and views towards the moors. Some of this was a cinder path, and some just grassy, occasionally with tree roots by the gates and stiles. I saw heron, cormorant, and a couple of buzzards. And almost no people.

14 Sep 2022Overall this is a nice easy route, until you get to FP that runs from Chapel Road to Blackburn Road. There is no footpath sign from Chapel Lane to point out the very small, hidden almost entry and the footpath is ver over-grown and takes concentration. Then you come out onto a field crossing with no visible footpath over.

17 May 2022A very enjoyable route which starts with a short climb up to Heapey (partly on roads) before joining an excellent countryside trail through to the picturesque hamlet of White Coppice. Points of interest include St Barnabas Church, the Chorley-Blackburn railway viaduct (disused) and the Heapey Reservoirs. The massive Heapey Bleach Works are now housing though!.
