Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

07 Apr 2022For my comments on this route see Wesgre 3 which is a more accurately plotted version of the route with a slight deviation at the West Bromwich end to give a more visually interesting way from the bus station.
Wesgre 1 can be followed using common sense but the plotting is very vague - for instance taking a long diagonal crossing of Newton Road, a fast moving dual carriageway near the end point at Great Barr, crossing the river in Sandwell Country Park where there is no bridge.
3 stars because the pop mapping is outweighed by the very pleasant surroundings of the main section of the walk.

01 Apr 2022Started this route from Great Barr. The idea behind the route is sound but it suffers from some very vague plotting. Most of this was forgivable apart from a section in Mayer's Green which put us on the wrong side of the road without a crossing. The tin hat had to be the final section which, rather than following the High Street to the Bus Station, deliberately puts you on a side of the road with initially no pavement, and then a pavement clearly designed to deter pedestrians. It was clearly a bust then. I've tidied, corrected and improved the route in Wesgre three.
