17 Feb 2023 Winter

Walked Feb 14th 2023, joining the route at St. George's church Eastergate then completing as mapped through to Arundel.

This is a lovely walk, the vast majority of it off-road. Despite this, it was easy going, with only a small patch of boggy terrain slowing progress in Paines' Wood - I nearly made it back with mud-free trousers, but for one poorly placed boot disappearing into what was more stream than trail! There are a series of small churches and attractive villages along the way, and you can reach it by train at either end (Barnham to the west and Arundel to the east).

The route is easy to translate from map to reality, with paths around or across fields clear. Crossing the golf course was no problem - you're sheltered by trees. The closure described by the previous reviewer for water works is no longer in effect. No other access issues encountered, and there's only one busy road crossing (Chichester road on the approach to Arundel). I'd happily recommend this to walkers, but I don't think it would be viable with a pushchair / wheelchair / bike.

25 Jul 2021 Summer

I combined WESARU One with CHIWES One to walk from Arundel to Chichester on 23/07/2021.
This route is well traced on the map and pretty well waymarked on the ground so straightforward to follow. The first section follows woodland paths out of Arundel and along the Scotland path through Binsted woods. I found this path temporarily blocked by barriers for some watermains excavations - however I went through and found the work looked complete and the path was safely passable. Most of the rest of the route went through or around fields of cereal crops with all the paths cut through by the farmer so easy to follow.
Sadly the quietest section past Binsted church to Warbleton is due to be destroyed by a new Arundel by-pass. All in the name of progress. So walk this and discover a little peaceful spot while you still can.
