21 Jan 2023As previously said, it's not a 'nice' route, it's along a main road. But it's short and not unsafe and I'm not sure what other options there would be to connect these two places in a nicer way.

04 Dec 2022I walked this on a chilly December afternoon, from Waltham Abbey to Waltam Cross.
It is direct, it is short, it's along a busy road. I didn't find it unsafe though, and all the crossings were signed. It is not a *nice* route, but as it is short, and direct, it's not bad. And I can't see another route to replace this either.

12 Jun 2022Agree with previous reviewer.
Starts well in Waltham Abbey High Street, nice shops, pubs , good views to the side. Cross the Merridian! .Short and direct.
But miserable road for 1.5 km.
Functional.

03 Sep 2021The one redeeming feature of this route is its directness - it is pretty much a straight line form start to finish.
However for the most part it is along a very busy main road lined by undistinguished 20th/21st century commercial and suburban architecture. Unfortunately as it crosses the river Lea and there are no other crossing points nearby this is the only option. As a functional route it works and as far as I can recall it is all along pavements with no accessibility problems.
If you are walking the route for pleasure I would say there are better places to walk, for example nearby the walk from Cheshunt to Waltham Abbey (CHEWAL) is immensely more interesting.
