05 Aug 2023A great walk through Epping Forest. clearly marked easy to follow and in quiet and mostly traffic free paths throughout. I walked from Loughton and did have problems with the undergrowth on the footpath leading to the footbridge over the M25. I did get through but with some difficulty. However an easier option is to walk onto a small car park on Beechfield walk then turn right toward Lodge Lane and then right onto the footpath and back on route over the M25. I am including a screenshot of this option.

21 Jan 2023Starts off along roads but then through beautiful open fields and through Epping forest.

21 Jan 2023This is a great route, especially in the middle section when you are off road. It can be muddy and there are a few stiles to get over as well as footbridges with stairs. A couple of sections of path were a little overgrown between Waltham Abbey and the M25.

11 Dec 2022I walked this on a frosty December afternoon, from Waltham Abbey to Loughton. It was frosty.
From Loughton you start with a short section along a busy road, use a crossing point to cross, before reaching the turn towards the football club. You then come onto a field, where the route is a little hard to follow. There is a turn to the south a little before the drawn route shows you, towards an empty building side, and along the back of some gardens. After crossing the grass, there is a foot bridge across the M25. On the other side, there is a footpath going south right in the middle of two fields, with another footbridge on the south side to cross the A121. From there on there are good footpaths along and across fields for ages. It's a gentle slope up, for quite some time. There are a few styles, and the ground can be muddy. There is a short stretch along around, and then a path on the North side of a road that leads you into Epping Forrest. Most of the rest of the route is through there, and it is really lovely. Then the last section towards the tube station there is some road walking, with unfortunately lots of cars parked on the pavement. The route ends at the station.
A lovely route, even on a cold December afternoon.

13 Jun 2022I walked from Loughton to Waltham Abbey.
Starting at the station there are busy roads close to shops then a long uphill residential street to Epping Forest. A well made path takes you along Forest Way, up hill, then through Little Monk Wood, beautiful trees all the way. Passing the Field Centre and a pond there is a car park and a Pub (also an ice cream van on this hot day) on the other side the path parallels a small road, then out of the woods onto the road through a village. The path opposite the stables can be hard to spot as it is a little overgrown, but after a short distance the path opens to good views across fields. After a km the path leads to a footbridge with steps over the A121.On the other side the path is again overgrown with long grass but is navigable. After passing some houses there is a footbridge without steps over the M25 into a park. There is a a building site which diverts you into a housing estate but you can walk across grassed areas to Cobbin's Brook then over the bridge, past Waltham Abbey Football ground, and a cemetery. The last short bit is along roads to the pedestrianised shopping area (with pub)
This is a lovely walk with plenty of variety. Some paths are rough and still muddy, some steep 33%, some overgrown with grass, but generally quite good.
