16 Feb 2022I have lived in Walsall for nearly 40 years and very much enjoyed the walk which explored parts of the area you would not normally visit. It was easy to follow with a number of interesting feature. Walsall Arboretum is well worth a side visit if you have not visited before (particularly the formal area which has a pleasant tea room). The off road section was very muddy / water logged in places (February) but well maintained and signposted. There are numerous stiles also and a board walk in one section. The route successfully avoids main roads as much as possible.

02 Oct 2021I started this route from Aldridge. I was somewhat disappointed that it completely bypassed stops, shops and bus stops of Aldridge and it lost a mark before it had really got going. From there it was a really pleasant stroll along the pavement west through the village. There is a section of countryside which is crossed by a series of well maintained, well marked footpaths. Special mention must be made of College Farm where signs advise not to feed the horses and where the footpath is. Very clear! Having crossed Riddian Bridge and passed through some woods, the path becomes slightly less clear but not enough to lose me. Crossing the Aldridge Road took some care as there is no crossing but was not too hard. From there to the Walsall meeting place is a combination of footpaths and pavement. A direct, and very easy section to follow with a particularly enjoyable part through Walsall Arboretum. This route also bypassed a pub and shop in the last sections. I’ve submitted an improved version as Walald two (including photos) but this version is still worthy of recommendation.
