25 Aug 2023I walked from Victoria to Charing Cross.
This is a Slow Way, very slow, crowds of tourists on a summers day. Like Mary Oz it too me several minutes to cross the Blue Bridge in St James Park, I'm sure I accidentally photo-bombed many otherwise lovely tourist pictures. But there is lots to see, just join the crowds if you have the time. But a great way to get to these places rather than a closer station.

08 Aug 2023Not surprisingly on a sunny Sunday in August, this route was heaving, as it passed the honey pot of sightseeing London locations. Here's my advice - don't do this route on a sunny Sunday in August; it took me 5 minutes just to get over the footbridge in St James Park! However it has to be a 5* route for me. I just picked the wrong day!.

14 Nov 2022 (edited 15 Nov 2022)Pretty much what everyone else has said. And easy to navigate! Plus gorgeous autumn colours in St J Park and street-side plane trees.
Minus one for busy noisy traffic and crowded pavements at either end, which is a bit claustrophobic for me. Also there is a(nother) diversion now, opposite the Queen's Gallery on Buckingham Gate, it has a couple of no-drop kerbs.

19 Feb 2022I walked this route from Victoria to Charing Cross. I loved it!
The first half comes up alongside Buckingham Palace, then you walk through St James’s park, then it’s only a quick bit to the station!
I came across a military band practicing in the yard by Buckingham Palace, and there’s always lots to discover in the park.
One thing to note: the pedestrian path through Admiralty Arch is closed, but it’s a short and relatively well-signed detour around and back to the route.
Direct, accessible, varied, gorgeous, and interesting! Four stars.

19 Feb 2022A lovely route, which I walked from Charing Cross to Victoria. It's straightforwards to follow. The access under Admiralty Arch is currently restricted, and once restored would make this walk even nicer. Try to spot the pelicans on Duck Island!.

09 Feb 2022This route takes you through St James's park and across its lake. It's an iconic walk beside The Mall from Trafalgar Square.
There is a small issue / detour at the moment as you can't walk through Admiralty Arch as there are road works but there is a short detour to the South or you can brave it on the road.

06 Jan 2022Ooh this is a goody-box of delights! More history than an attic stuffed with cabin trunks - tick off several major London Sightseeing Events in a single Slow Way!
Trafalgar Square (photo) - the centre of London if the old mile stones are to be believed; there is a day's worth of sightseeing here, no need to go further.
Admiralty Arch (photo) - soon to feature as a super smart 'probably more stars than this Slow Way' hotel. Meanwhile pedestrians are diverted ...
The Mall - scene of great mourning when Diana died; also galleries, arts, a couple of palaces ... and also ...
The Cavalry (photo) - a mere stones throw (don't though) from Horse Guards Parade, you may see the splendid-coated Cavalry trotting by.
The Marching Band (photo) - you may encounter one of various top-notch military bands marching along the road.
St James' Park (photo) - a go-to for private off-the-record conversations on the many benches and footpaths; pelicans; jogging prime ministers; also good refreshments.
Buckingham Palace (lurking in the back of the St James' Park photo) - the Queen is almost never here nowadays, but the guard still changes every day.
Victoria Station (photo) - the 'old school' departure point for going round the world in 80 days - having walked over on this Slow Way from your St James' club of course.
I've walked this route or similar many many times, it never gets boring!
Good accessibility, safe road crossings, total 5 star worthy.
