30 Aug 2023Make sure you take a look at Turners house on the way past Sandycoombe Road in St Margarets.
Also take the cut across Moormead and Bandy Recreation Ground and the river side walk for a better experience on approach to Twickenham Station (closed after sunset).
Strider
27 Nov 2022I walked from Twickenham to Richmond on a damp November day.
Mostly roadside walking with a couple of parks, but this well plotted route picks up lots of interesting places. The River Crane, JW Turner's house, lovely views over Richmond Bridge, art deco Odeon building and a nice church yard. Cafes and quaint shops along the way.
No access issues, fairly flat, no stairs, but quite a lot of street furniture in places.
For a short walk this has plenty to see.

10 Jul 2021This is a route I made, I think it's a good one. An enjoyable route between Twickenham and Richmond, lots of interesting things to look at. The route crosses the River Crane, passes through a popular recreation ground, and then some excellent residential streets with top notch front gardens to peer into, before passing directly outside St Margarets station if you fancy a 'get out'. Next up is Turner's House and Garden - recently restored, the gate was open and welcoming when I went by. The busy road leading to Richmond Bridge has lots of local cafes and shops. Across the bridge the route avoids most of the main Richmond shopping street, and instead goes past the bus station, then through the churchyard with magnificent 18th century tombstones. Route finishes at Richmond Station.
For me this route gets the best balance of directness, connectivity, interest/enjoyment, and traffic avoidance, and so I am awarding it 5 stars.
Access - there's no stairs on this route, but there are a handful of places with no drop curb at a road crossing.
I put some of the photos I took onto the route page, but I'll put them again here with a couple more of Richmond Church.
(This route is the same as Twiric 1 but more accurately drawn to ensure all road crossings are safe).
