This was a really direct, pleasant, and straightforward route, and is what the locals use to get from Tod to Hebden. It has direct, efficient access at both ends, and good wheel-friendly surface all the way, although some bridges and slopes down past locks have cobbles. The biggest difficulty would be where there are canal overflows, running over the towpath over cobbles. There are several of these. Mostly these were dryish at the time, and they all had a raised plank alongside a wall, so you could have dry feet, but they were not wheelable. See pictures.
It felt pretty rural most of the way, although there was old and new industry dotted along the route. The prettiest section was towards Hebden Bridge where the locals had planted garden flowers on both sides of the towpath. There was lots of canalside interest with refreshment opportunities towards Hebden Bridge, and plentiful facilities at both ends of this lovely route.
