Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

28 Dec 2023 (edited 12 Jan 2024)I walked this route yesterday from West Bromwich. It's a really good route, which starts by taking you along the streets to the Birmingham Canal (New Main Line) towpath which the route follows for approx. two thirds of it. Not much to add to other reviews other than the only potential accessibility limits to those on wheels could be a few shallows steps on one or two of the towpath footbridges. The steep risers could also be prone to ice up in freezing weather but that's about the only potential hazards.

09 Feb 2022A great walk between Tipton Railway Station and West Bromwich Bus Station. It mainly follows the towpath of the Birmingham Canal which is a relaxing environment. You could stay on the towpath on the Tipton Railway side until you leave, but the towpath indicated is wider and paved, so is more "all weather". The canal section links up with the railway, first at Tipton and then Dudley Port. You leave the canal at Albion. The walk has been designed to follow beyond the bridge of the B4166 and double back on yourself, avoiding a tricky couple of crossings. You then walk into West Bromwich on the pavements of Albion and then Oak Roads. An unexpected bonus on this route was passing Oak House Museum. Direct, safe and with some really enjoyable stretches of walking. I don't see how it could work better as a Slow Way. Full marks!.
