Like SwaHar3, but avoids some annoying footpaths near St Margarets Farm, and the impassible field near Christchurch (see my review at SwaHar3 for more commentary)

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

05 May 2024I walked this on a slightly cloudy afternoon, from Hartley (or Longfield?) to Swanley. It had rained a fair bit in the previous week.
From Hartley, the route starts by climbing up a little hill, before crossing a little field (photo #1). Crossing Fawkham Road was OK, there wasn't a lot of traffic. The next section is along fields, some which had newly planted crops. The next section is along some lanes, of which none of them were busy (photo #2).
After finding the entrance to the public footpath from Rabbits Road to Wilson Lane (photo #3), the route crossed a newly planted field (but it's a public right of way, photo #4). On the north side of the Chatham Main Line, there are more lanes to walk on.
Go along fields (photo #5), then gets you into South Darenth, with a distinctive tower (photo #6). After crossing underneath the railway's tall arches (photo #7), the route then follows the railway on either side for a while. Then it goes through a section with lots of poly tunnels (photo #8), where the actual footpath has been sign posted well.
The section through Ram's Wood, north of Canada Heights, is confusing, as there are so many paths and trails, for both feet and wheels. I just made a bee-line for Button Street, to get underneath the M25 (photo #9).
The next section goes along nice green fields again, to once more end up near the railway. Although there was a fence, there were also some blue bells (photo #10). After following Beechenlea Lane a little bit, the route goes around the edges of a field with potatoes. The flowers can sometimes be a little dense (photo #11). The actual public right of way goes through it, but it's better to go around — and much faster. A little path gets you to the alley north of Leechcroft Avenue. From there on, it's along residential and light industrial area streets (photo #12) towards the station.
A good walk, but quite a few lanes, and some fields that weren't prepped for walkers. That gives me the 4 stars for this one.
