Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

22 Jun 2023Review of SlowWays Route Strlar one (Strathaven to Larkhall)
I walked this route on a gloriously sunny day in June 2023. The first section begins by climbing (quite steeply) out of the pretty village of Strathaven and passes through rolling countryside until reaching Glassford. The second section is similar in that it involves following country roads with expansive views across huge swathes of rural South Lanarkshire. The final section is mostly downhill through the shady Morgan Glen with a slight climb at the end to reach Larkhall town centre. The route overall is very straightforward, following minor roads all the way, and it is accurately mapped. My only criticism would be that the roads are windy in places with several blind bends, and the lack of pavements for most of the way means that extreme care must be taken at some points. Nevertheless a very enjoyable route through a little-visited area.
