Description
You can start this route by train from Inverness. At the right time of day, there is a cafe at the hotel in Strathcarron, otherwise you're straight onto the riverside path then a brief stretch of road before heading in the hills, climbing steadily up Fionn abhainn. You pass the lovely Coire Fionnaraich MBA bothy before continuing to climb to Bealach Ban. This is all excellent footpath and easy to follow. Once over the bealach, there is a short section without path (although marked with cairns) before picking up another excellent path down to Ling Hut and Glen Torridon. It is spectacular scenery. Straight across the road and up Coire Dubh Mor - a good path and steady climb. Follow the path NE around the back of Sail Mhor, to get some of the most amazing views and then a steep climb alongside the waterfall to Loch Choire Mhic Fhearchair. From the Loch there is a challenging 5km section without path that involves some navigation and sensible route selections. It's time consuming and boggy. Not to be underestimated (this section too us around 3 hours!) before joining a good path up to an unnamed bealach (NG985625) where you get amazing views of Loch Maree and beyond. The path then descends towards Kinlochewe. This is one of the Cape Wrath Trail variations

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

03 Jun 2023Fabulous route - spectacular scenery, generally good paths (with just one pathless, boggy section). It could also be combined with some Munro-bagging in Beinn Eighe from Glen Torridon. Completed over 2 days. Great toasted sandwiches and cake at the Service Station Cafe in Kinlochewe.
