From Stansted Mountfitchet Station proceed along Church Rd into Lower St, turn right, uphill onto the B1051, take the footpath to the left to Gall End. Follow path a short way to a left turn, follow path across an open field passing Aubrey Buxton Nature Reserve. On reaching end of track turn right following path on edge of Alsa Wood. Continue along path which crosses the M11 via a footbridge. Proceed to edge of Alsa Wood and proceed left following eastern edge of wood until meeting Bedwell Road. Bedwell Rd becomes New Road which you follow to Elsenham train Station. Cross rail line via footbridge and proceed north on Old Mead road for a short distance to a footpath to the right. Follow this footpath To Mill Rd where you turn left and immediately right along clearly designated footpath which turns left towards the village of Henham. From Henham continue with the original Slow ways route until you have walked through Priors Wood. Instead of leaving the track to join right hand footpath , remain on the track and continue along Woodend to Widdington High Street passing the excellent Fleur de Lys pub. Proceed past the pub, turning right along South Green , along Church Lane, passing the Church re-joining the Slow Ways walk to Saffron Walden
