19 Dec 2023I walked this route with Strider on a fairly wet December day. While it is just good enough to pass, I think a better route can definitely be found. There were a couple of road crossings to take good care with, across the A12 and also on Heath Drive entering Romford Golf Club (if walking from Romford). We also found the paths a little difficult to pick up where golf courses or farmers had removed them or not signed them well which led to some very muddy boots across some open fields. There were still some nice stretches and we saw deer, buzzards and red kites - would definitely be easier in good weather!.

17 Dec 2023We walked from Romford to Stapleford Abbotts.
This walk has some positives:
Some great views, even on a miserable day. Lovely woods, with deer. Nice parks and golf courses. Quaint villages. A big variety of terrain and scenery.
But:
Not easy to navigate, poor signage on golf courses, and hidden turnings. Farmers have ploughed over paths both across and around fields. Some very narrow gates. Lots of very sticky mud. And some walking on vergeless roads.
Despite the positives this was a difficult walk, which would be slightly better in summer.
Not bad enough to fail, we did it, but not quite good enough to want to walk again.
