26 May 2026Walked as part of National Parks Challenge 2026. Having read the only review, I was tempted to exit Prestatyn on the glorious North Wales Path and then walk on using country roads. I chose not to which was a big mistake. There are paths which don’t appear to exist, paths which have an entrance but no apparent exit and paths which are now almost entirely blocked. I jumped fences, clambered over dead trees, and had my legs savaged by bracken and nettles.
There may be a route which uses the North Wales Path and roads, recognising there is not a lot of choice. It is not this one.

19 Apr 2025Parts of this route are lovely but several detours were needed (possibly landowners have fenced off the previous paths). The only way past the boundary fence at Rhyl rugby club was a very rickety stile over barbed wire 100m north west of the map route, and there was no pathway on the Cwm side of Tyddin Lane. An alternative route is to follow the lane round to Ffordd Llanelwy, and then this is a lovely walk over to Prestatyn.
