Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

17 Jan 2024I walked this route on 3rd March 2023 from KIbblesworth to Stanley. The paths out of the village can be very muddy - hence the name on the OS Map of Clarty Lane! Its fairly easy walking at the start passing beside the Bowes Valley Nature Reserve. You soon leave the wooded path up through pastures where I discovered from waymarkers I was sharing this section of the route with the Tyne and Wear Heritage Trail. You head past Riding Farm and then enter a lovely section of the valley beside the River Team. I will definitely return in the Spring/Summer. There was more up and down but the paths were well marked.
You climb through some beauitiful woodland and eventually join the Consett & Sunderland Railway Path which you follow until the final short path into Stanley Town Centre. This shared cycle path is perhaps less technical. All in all a good walk.
