Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Compared to Routes Two and Three I think this is a poor choice as it uses the busy Uxbridge Road and Windmill Lane too much at the Southall end. The short stretch of canal it uses is nice (see my review of Route Two for more detail). If you like period houses, you’ll see lots of them.
I’d suggest the walk has two good features.
Firstly, as it’s all on pavement/tarmac you won’t get muddy shoes – and that may also help anyone with wheels.
Secondly, it would make a good Hanwell pub crawl! Fox, Green W7, Prince of Wales, Village Inn and Grosvenor are all passed (and the wonderful Dodo Micropub is about 30m off the route).

Not a bad route, but perhaps needs a bit of tweaking. The crossing of Northfield Avenue as marked isn't possible due to being through a construction site - would also be safer using the crossing slightly further North than marked. Also the final part of the route along Windmill Lane and Uxbridge Road is pretty unpleasant. Might be a nicer slightly less direct route to use.
