Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

29 May 2023Sandhurst to Crowthorne 1 (Sancro 1) review.
A pleasant Slow Way that makes good use of the available green spaces.
The urban walk from Sandhurst Station ascends Scotland Hill road (Photo 1).
There’s a shady path to enjoy through Edgbarrow Woods (Photo 2).
The walk into Crowthorne is alongside the Sandhurst Road.

29 Jul 2022The route is easy enough to follow. It is quite hilly in places especially around School Hill/Scotland Hill. I took a 6 year old on the route and my daughter in a basic buggy and we got down to Sandhurst ok. Some wooded area with roots and some shingle down Hancombe Road (although I think you could go an alternative way around Little Sandhurst to avoid this if you wanted to go on pavement instead of shingle). It's a pleasant enough walk to get to Sandhurst and avoids most of Sandhurst Road.

18 Sep 2021A well chosen route that mostly manages to avoid the obvious shortest road between the start and the destination points through available footpaths and quiet streets of Sandhurst. Crowthorne is at much higher altitude than Sandhurst which can make a difference at the end of an already long walk. Even the forest part of the route is relatively easy to walk on with no major obstacles.

02 May 2021 (edited 27 Jun 2023)This is a demanding uphill route (in both directions) so expect to be challenged. Route is easy to follow and apart from the steep gradient no particular obstacles or difficulties. A more direct route on the lit, wide pavement next to the main road between Sandhurst and Crowthorne is a good alternative.
