Description
An altermative route to Salrom One, this runs further south, via West Dean, Dean station and Dean Hill, but is of similar length. The start and end sections are largely shared with Salrom one.
Leaving Salisbury the route heads east along the Clarendon Way to Pitton, then southeastwards over open fields and then forest through Farley, continuing southeast towards West Dean. It passes through West Dean village and by Dean Station before heading south onto Dean Hill. The route then follows the ridge of Dean Hill eastwards with great views northwest towards Salisbury, north into the Winterslow and Stockbridge areas, east to Farley Mount and southeast to Southampton and the Isle of Wight. The route then gradually dtops, to the hamlet of Newtown before continuing eastward passing just south of Awbridge, and finally joining the Test Way near Roke Manor to head southesstwards through Squabb Wood into Romsey.
Only one known refreshment stop en-route, in Pitton. West Dean had a pub but this closed many years ago. Dean station splits the walk nicely into two approximately equal segments

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
