Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

18 Jun 2023 (edited 25 Jun 2023)Well, this ferry route was a fabulous way of getting between two Slow Ways places when it is impossible to walk and ferries are an acceptable substitute. Very easy and enjoyable. I walked about on the deck a bit. It did cost a wee bit of money, but not a lot as a foot passenger. On the way to the Isle of Bute I saw gannets, guillemots, and a seaplane! On the way back I had a good view of several gannets diving. Only one at a time though – not one of those frenzies you see videos of.
I came by train from Glasgow and therefore I had the full Wemyss Bay interchange experience of using the glorious station there. On the island I got the bus to the fabulous fairy tale mansion of Mount Stuart. This was a great day out in the middle of a week of walking Slow Ways based in Glasgow then Helensburgh, and gave my feet a little rest.
I’m pretty sure it’s completely wheelable too, by design.
