Description
Essentially this is a modification of Rickin One in order to exclude the narrow sidewalks on Friars Lane and Duke Street and the unmarked crossings near Richmond Green. It would be on more main streets, but help get people to the larger, less crowded riverside path more quickly

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

14 Jan 2024I walked this in January 2024 following a rainy week. Photos below. Nearly all the walk is pleasant off-road following the river. A little muddy in a few spots. Some lovely views particularly on the approach to Richmond. Very flat of course.
For me the map is clear enough - it's obvious which roads you are being directed to use at each end, and safe road crossing points are the zebra and pelican crossings which are visible as you approach them. There are quicker ways between Kingston and Richmond but this is very pleasant stroll.

19 Aug 2021You want a long riverside stroll between Richmond and Kingston, then this'll do just fine. This variation will take you past the main shopping street in Richmond, and whether thats at the start or end of your journey there are plenty of options for a snack or beverage (there is a variation that takes you through Richmond Green, which is also a worthwhile route). If you need a break on-route then there is Ham House and gardens (National Trust) just off the River in Ham. Between Ham House and Kingston there really isn't much until you get to Kingston although you will pass a YMCA which has a cafe a bit south of the Teddington Locks. Near Kingston there is a great pub in Canbury Gardens. Plenty of benches on the route.

13 Aug 2021This route and Rickin One (more or less the same route) between Richmond and Kingston is rather long-winded, and unless you really want to walk the whole way along the river I would recommend Rickin Four which cuts the river loop off.
Between this route and Rickin One I prefer Rickin One (the other one) because it crosses Richmond Green and has less traffic. This route goes along the main shopping street in Richmond which has heavy traffic and busy pavements.
Since the intention of making this route is to improve accessibility at the Richmond end I'm disappointed more attention isn't given to route line accuracy, especially showing where to cross the road safely at Richmond, and generally sharpening up the sometimes broad-brush route line throughout to clarify and remove ambiguity in one or two places. With this in mind I've decided only to award 2 stars because I don't think it achieves what it sets out to do.
