Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

25 Jan 2023Great route between the towns.
I agree with the confusion at the top of the Waggon Way. My routing device also tried to send me up the steep bank.
Looking at the GPX points, it looks like the route file could be improved by making a specific route point at the top of this path, and then route along New Row. If you could update the route file that would be helpful, especially for people who've never been in Tranent before.

08 Aug 2021This is a good route between Prestonpans and Tranent. It is mainly flat and suitable for 'wheelers'. The first section (starting at Prestonpans) goes through housing but makes good use of footpaths and the roads are quiet. The B1361 was easy to cross following the suggested route, as there is a pedestrian island at this point. The route makes use of an underpass to go under the A1. The only difficulty I found was just before entering Tranent: the route indicates you can leave the footpath and go left into the Butts car park by Coal Neuk. There is no footpath joining these and it doesn’t look like there ever was (they are separated by a steep overgrown bank). Instead I continued onwards under the bridge of Bridge Street and came out where the B6414 joins New Row. I then looped back to get onto Bridge Street and the suggested route, but it would probably make more sense to enter Tranent via New Row instead.
