Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

27 Feb 2023A good, straightforward route through a mixture of urban abd rural paths.
From Platt Bridge, where there is a few bus stops and a small variety of shops, the route passes along a few residential roads before reaching the paved main road. Up and over the canal, we eventually turn onto our first footpath. At first a track, it eventually narrows into a thin footpath, before crossing a footbridge and going under a rail bridge.
On the other side, the path crosses a couple of fields, which can be quite wet and boggy in places. Beyond, a few tracks lead us past a farm, before we meet the road. A short unpaved section comes next, although with verges, but they're not very wide. Fortunate, we're not on it long, before we head off down another unpaved road, although this one is a dead-end and only serves the houses and farms we pass.
Once passed, a sometimes muddy footpath runs alongside fields, until we reach another road. Over the rail bridge and down some steps onto a tarmac path, before another muddy field walk. It becomes a footpath, and then, once down a few residential roads, we reach the main road of Golborne, with its shops, and the end.
A decent, if not very picturesque, route, and good for linking other routes. The terrain and a succession of gates and steps make the route foot-only.
