Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

19 Aug 2021Leaving Micheldever Station the route starts with a short series of paths squeezed between houses. The entrances to these paths are not all easily seen. The last path emerges alongside into a field alongside the railway and is followed to a wooded area. At this point the path disappears completely in overgrowth. The only option is to turn sharp left and follow the edge of the field until the rear of some bungalows is reached. It is then possible to turn right and follow a path to the Stockbridge Road. Turning right, the road passes the Asphalt Works on the right, eventually to reach the point where the original path would have emerged. (Adds 1/2mile)
The next two miles are on main roads and lanes, none of which have pavements. Turning left, the route follows a wide track and then a path before joining another Lane (the Overton Way) where it, unseen, crosses the railway tunnel. A short distance further on the route turns left across fields where, for the first two, it was totally undefined. (At the time of walking the first field contained maize that was well above head height.) The rest of the route is across open countryside and is readily followed to the edge of Overton where it joins suburban roads, with pavements, to the finish point on High Street.
