Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

21 Oct 2024We walked from Loddon to Red Lion House on this route and had the following observations
1. The route out of Loddon is simple and has good pavements and alternative options.
2. The roundabout where the Mundham Road meets the A146 Norwich Road has a clear and simple place to cross out of Loddon.
3. The Mundham Road is quite busy and a hemmed in by steep verges. There is a need to keep a watch out for cars along here.

25 Aug 2023Walked this route from Norwich (train station) to Loddon (car park). The first half is quite urban or along minor roads without footpaths. This is not very enjoyable because, if you are in a group, you often have to walk in single file, and traffic noise can sometimes mean you struggle to hear one another. I walked it in the daylight but would have felt vulnerable in the dark.
At almost exactly the half-way mark (6.5 miles) is the well marked Aldis & Sons Farmshop & Cafe (open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 4pm) which is only 200 yards off course but serves a great range of food and drink (and has a toilet!).
The second-half of the walk is much more rural with quieter country lanes and nice scenery and was much more enjoyable and I am glad that we did the walk that way around.
Opposite the finishing point ( a car park in Loddon high street) is a great pub - The Swan - serving food and drink outside or in (and also with toilets).

10 Jun 2022Okay for walking but not suitable for wheelchair. A large portion of the walk involves walking in a road (not busy but fairly regular cars), with blind corners and
No lighting . Ground was good enough quality but I can imagine will be much more difficult if its recently rained. If your comfortable walking I'm a road, then there's a lot of nice sights and a couple of shops along the route. Not any public toilets though but with a small detour you could access some. Route was accurate though and a goodwqlk for a confident walker that gets you from point a to b.
