05 Jul 2025Review of Newmdar one (Newmilns to Darvel 1)
I walked this route in reverse (i.e. from Darvel to Newmilns) on a rainy morning in July 2025. The route starts in the centre of Darvel but quickly drops down to and crosses the River Irvine. There is then a very pleasant stretch along a metalled track until a road bridge across the river leads to the centre of Newmilns. This is a short, safe and attractive route, suitable for foot, bike and buggy.
