Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

07 Jul 2023I have only walked from Lossie to Spey Bay, but I love this walk. The bridge over the river Lossie is now open so you can get onto East beach. The walk then continues along the beach, staying beside the sea and on dedicated paths, into dunes and woodlands, along gravel type footpaths until you reach Kingston. Here you continue walking on footpaths but next to roads through to Garmouth (home to Speyside Coffee Roasting Co. which serve delicious coffee and paninis) before then reaching a dedicated foot/cycle path (an old railway line). You cross the river Spey on the old railway bridge and get some great views up and down the river! The suggested route then continues on, where you reach the B9104, that does also have footpaths next to the road. I would however recommend turning left after the bridge and making a stop at the dolphin centre, which also has a great cafe- perfect for some well deserved lunch (though check their opening times as they do vary season dependent). The path then continues through Spey Bay, through a gold course and onto Bukie.

30 Apr 2021This route is not open as the bridge access at the start is closed permanently.
A new bridge is planned for 2022.
It is too dangerous to use the main road to walk part of the route.
