Description
Green and quiet route from Lordshill to Southampton via Lordswood, the Sports Centre and the Common. As suggested in ROMLOR Three, part of this route could form the end point of a ROMSOU route making use of much of ROMLOR Three and much of this route

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

29 Mar 2024This was a really nice nature-forward walk, even though I traveled it on a day when the mud was seemingly everywhere! I did this after coming up on Lorsou Four (nice to stop for a sit-down and some refreshment at the Sainsbury's plaza), and almost everything was very easy to navigate. The only part that was a bit tricky in my OS Maps app was when leaving the Southampton Sports Centre, the directions lead toward Dunkirk Road and then make a tight V heading back toward Lordswood Gardens but there didn't seem to be a path to get there. I had to walk up the steep hill leading back to the car park for the Southampton Sports Centre Bowling Club and then walk through another car park to reach Hill Lane. The trails through Southampton Common were easy to follow and despite the mud, there were plenty of people out. Seems to be a popular area for dog walkers! My only other comment is that it might be nice to guide walkers through Watts Park rather than staying streetside on Above Bar and Commercial. As someone visiting from out of town and staying in Southampton City Centre, this was a fun hike to do and very close to my accommodations. In dry conditions, almost all segments of this walk could be navigated by a variety of individuals. Some sections include bike paths and are paved. Some sections are also ideal for those using motorized mobility devices.
